Established in 2002, we specialize in Commercial and Institutional Glazing projects. The scopes include Exterior Glass: Curtain Walls, Window Walls, Storefronts and Entrances and Glass Canopies. Interior Glass: Sliding Doors, Swing Doors and Fixed Walls

Sky Windows is looking for an experienced Glazing and/or Construction Draftsperson, who has current working experience, in drafting of commercial construction environments.

Role Purpose:

The purpose of the Drafting Technician is to successfully manage shop drawings in a timely fashion, meeting deadline and budget requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

• Pre-engineering of systems: review project proposals, making recommendations for materials and systems considering design objectives, constructability, and cost.
• Attend design meetings with general contractor and architect.
• Develop profile packages for bids.
• Manage shop drawings process including status reporting and scheduling of shop drawing review meetings.
• Manage outside engineering, coordinate with outside draftsman.
• Maintain standardization of shop drawings and engineering, including vendor list.
• Create quality control/quality assurance packages.
• Update shop drawings with architect’s comments, engineer comments, and field dimensions.
• Create small projects and shop drawing packages.
• Other duties as assigned.

Ideal Experience and Expertise:

• Well versed in AutoCAD
• 3+ years glazing industry experience (ideal)
• Familiarity with various glazing systems: aluminum storefronts, aluminum curtainwall, and various glass systems and the processes and procedures to fabricate and install same (ideal)
• Ability to point out design issues is a recommended skill
• Ability to understand field dimensions in order to update shop drawings
• Can read (and understand) architectural and structural drawings
• Essential office skills: typing, computer literacy, and able to navigate the internet
• Excellent professional oral and written communication skills

Salary dependent on experience:

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
