The Division of Forensic Sciences, Milwaukee Crime Laboratory is recruiting for a Firearms and Toolmark Examiner – Advanced position. This position will be headquartered at the Milwaukee Crime Laboratory, which is located at 1578 South 11 th St., Milwaukee, WI, 53204.

Position Summary
The Advanced position assists the Technical Leader (TL) who oversees and coordinates all training, quality and technical aspects of the Firearms/Toolmarks Unit within the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratories (Madison, Milwaukee and Wausau Laboratories). In addition to performing the duties of a Forensic Scientist Advanced, this position is responsible for ensuring the Unit's compliance with the Laboratories’ quality system and accreditation criteria, assisting with the Unit’s training program, resolving Unit technical issues including nonconforming work and preventative actions, and overseeing validation of new methods and procedures.
Salary Information
The Firearm and Toolmark Examiner-Advanced classification is in pay schedule 15 and range 03. The starting salary for this position will be between $35.00 - $41.78/hr ($72,800 - $86,902 annually). Pay for former and current state employees will be in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probation may be required.
Job Details
The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.

Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants must have training, education or experience in all of the following: Working as a Firearms and Toolmark Examiner in an ANAB/ASCLD accredited laboratory. Understanding, development, and implementation of policies in accordance with of ISO/IEC 17025 and ANAB accreditation requirements. Following safety protocols in a laboratory setting.
Well-qualified applicants will have met all of the minimally qualified criterion and a combination of the following: Working knowledge and experience in the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratories Firearms and Toolmark Unit. Experience developing and implementing new policies and procedures in an ANAB accredited laboratory. Experience with training and mentoring others by presenting complex or technical information in a variety of formats (e.g., verbal briefings, presentations, trainings).
