POSITION SUMMARY:

The Field Engineer is responsible for supporting and assisting the Project Manager or Sr. Project Engineerwith the
overall project administration and management of a large construction project. The Field Engineer will oversee
and manage a portion of the field office staff, which could include:engineers, office manager, document c ontr ol,
schedulers, procurement, warehouse, and othersupport personnel on the project. The FieldEngineer will se tup
and implement the weekly project controls as directed by the Project Manager or Sr . Project Engine er. The se
controls include scheduling and project management systems required by Casey Industrial and as de fine d in the
prime contract documents.

The Field Engineer will be continually evaluating the overall status of the project, searching for those thing s that
have potential to negatively or positively impact the project goals and objectives. Time constraints dictate that
there is an effective working relationship with the Project Manager, with a clear understanding of how challe nges
and opportunities are to be handled. Effective performance in this role requires a comprehensive knowledge and
understanding of the current project situation, as well as the project scope, Prime contract, Corporate and Project
goals.

The role requires interfacing with all areas affected by the project including the c lient(s), e nginee ring/design,
subcontractors, distributors, vendors, and the ongoing strategic communication with project management
regarding the status of the project.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead/direct a crew of 30 people for short periods if needed
  • Learn and implement financial principles to quantify costs and benefits of projects, and to track against budgets
  • Represent Casey in a professional manner in all client interaction activities
  • Assist in providing the client with contract required reports (weekly, monthly, schedule)
  • Understand and follow Casey’s Corporate Safety Plan and site-specific safety plan
  • Assist in distribution and interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
  • Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed
materials and work
  • Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
  • Provide support to ensure the site quality plan is communicated and all inspections and quality documentation is
being completed on time and assembled for final turn over
  • Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets
  • Compile and distribute weekly the Average Labor Rate to the front-line supervision
  • Assist in the preparation of Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s)
  • Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training
  • Order, schedule material deliveries and develop procurement status report
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
  • Supervise field operations
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents
  • Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations

Assist Engineers to gather and prepare data for submittal or transmittal to the customer, vendors, subcontractors,
governmental agencies, and internal use
  • Assist in preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, prepare material buyout take offs from issued for
construction drawings
  • Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations
  • Assist in the maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports,
photographs, requests for information (RFIs), submittal, transmittal, memorandums, and other correspondence
  • Assis in the development and distribution of productivity tracking including Average labor rate, indirect scheduling,
equipment schedule and log, risk and opportunity log, etc.
  • Assist in generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager
  • Support the Casey planning process through the master schedule, 6-week, 3-week, 1-week, and manpower curves
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related work experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative

  • Willing to travel extensively and relocate to the next project location for an extended period (typically 6-12
months)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which
require following basic safety precautions
  • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures,
dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises

HOURS:
This position is a full-time position scheduled typically, 50 hours/week and based on project needs.

TRAVEL:
Travel required up to 90%. Position requires presence directly on the Project Site location with intermittent travel
to residence of record.
