About the Position:

Looking for a Maintenance position in an outdoor environment with a sense of adventure? This could be the job for you!

We are a scout camp located in a beautiful cove, nestled on the west end of Catalina Island near the town of Two Harbors. Our program focuses on outdoor education and youth development. We serve a wide array of groups including scouts and non-scouters. The property is operated by the Western Los Angeles County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Maintenance staff members are scheduled to work 5 days a week for an 8 hour shift each day with included breaks.

We are looking for enthusiastic and goal driven people with a facilities maintenance/groundskeeping background who work well in a fast-paced environment with excellent customer service skills. You will join a team of professionals focused on an A+ facilities experience for our customers, including cleanliness of our facility and a quality camping experience in a resort setting. We regularly see approximately 10,000 to 15,000 clientele pass through our extraordinary facilities every year.

Position Concept:

The Maintenance Staff is accountable for the care and upkeep of the facilities at Camp Emerald Bay. They have accountability for ensuring a safe, functional, and sanitary environment for all residents and guests. The Maintenance Staff reports to the Site Manager.

Position Requirements:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Have a general knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanics and woodworking.
• Be organized, timely, and able to set priorities in a task and goal-oriented environment.
• Be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
• Be a good role model.
• Physically capable of lifting 50lbs and performing repetitive motions.
• Can live and work in a small community in a remote location with limited access to extra curricular's. (Housing is provided)

Principle Responsibilities:

• 
  Primary responsibility is the daily care and upkeep of the facility.

• Daily cleaning of restrooms & showers
• Daily trash removal
• Daily housekeeping
• Daily upkeep of general camp areas

• Grounds keeping tasks such as clearing brush, weed trimming, chipping debris, raking, watering plants, picking up rocks.
• Assist in the maintenance and repair of the camp facilities, vehicles, & equipment.
• Assist in completing preventative maintenance schedules.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent o California Food Handler's Permit o CPR and First Aid Certification o 2yrs+ job experience in culinary industry/food service (preferred) o Ability to work effectively in a group environment o Ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb stairs
