Job description

This position is responsible for maintaining plant and mobile equipment in a state of readiness. The position will also perform inspections and preventative maintenance on plant and mobile equipment, such as a rubber tire loader, forklift, man lift or bobcat prior to and after operation. This position will inform the Plant Manager of conditions that could impact production and prepare all required department operating reports.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Inspects condition and operation of plant equipment and performs necessary repairs and adjustments. Performs routine maintenance on equipment, such as cleaning and lubricating parts. Reports required repairs and other findings to Plant Manager.
  • Assists with plant repairs and breakdowns as required. Includes any emergency repairs. Coordinates work to ensure that repairs are completed in a timely manner and per order of priority.
  • May transport material; loading trucks of earth, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and other material and transporting it from one area to another.
  • Cleans various tools, equipment, material, and work areas.
  • Performs and records daily inspection of equipment.
  • Perform assignments outlined by supervisors and follow standard procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Maintain an effective system of communications with drivers, serviced customers, and crew, including supervisors, operators, and laborers.
  • Work is inspected periodically for safety and economy in operation.
  • Follows company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an “Incident and Injury Free” work environment

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with heavy equipment, construction or aggregates.
  • Basic mechanical and construction knowledge and skills
  • Ability to work a 40-hour work week M-F, 7 am – 4 pm, Additional overtime hours as needed

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Driver’s license
  • Loader License – 2A, 1C – Rubber tire excavators, 980 loaders, forklift, etc. recommended

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crawl, stoop and/or sit.
  • Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend or stand for long periods of time, and climb ladders that have capacity limits of 300 lbs.
  • Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted
