Position: Nursing (LPN or RN) | Royal Life Centers | Lacey, WA | Part-Time 7pm-7am

The Nurse (RN or LPN) reports to RDON and ADON. They responsible to provide medical & history screens, overseeing self-administration program, providing routine nursing care, and overseeing the medical and psychiatric management of the client in coordination with the attending physician. The RN or LPN is also a member of the Treatment Team and provides input into the development of the Master Treatment Plan.


Job Duties: Nursing (LPN or RN)

  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse meets with clients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as required
  • Effectively communicates concerns about patient health to the Medical Director and follows up as necessary
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse Under the supervision of the Medical Director & Assistant Director of Nursing, assists in educating clients about health problems and medical care
  • Facilitates medication education for new clients and for all other clients starting new medications and documents according to policy requirements
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse provides education and proper cleaning protocols for any equipment a client brings in and needs for a medical diagnosis and documents accordingly
  • Meets with counselors to provide information about client medical concerns
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse sssists the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planning
  • Takes verbal orders from the Medical Director, documents them in the client record, and carries them out accurately and professionally
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse administers medications when clients are unable to do so themselves
  • Is trained and able to draw blood for laboratory testing and understands that this may also include urinalysis tests as needed
  • Nurses will monitor CLIA waived testing or laboratory results to determine if a change in the client’s treatment plan is needed. Nurses will coordinate with the Assistant Director of Nursing regarding recommendations
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse Pprovides routine nursing care under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Nursing
  • Participate in regular meetings with Director of Clinical Services to discuss specific client problems.
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse participates in regular department meetings and staff meetings
  • Encourage efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent waste
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse maintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facility
  • Keeps and shares records and equipment
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse participates in Performance Improvement, Utilization Review, Fire & Disaster Committees, and others as requested
  • Attends in-service education programs as assigned to learn new forms, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse has good work habits: performs tasks in a timely, efficient manner with no excessive absences; is on time for scheduled shifts and prepared to begin work
  • Maintains up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, Fire Safety, and other areas mandated by organizational policies
  • The Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse communicates effectively with other staff members and demonstrates the ability to work as a team member
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability, responding positively to changing situations in the work setting
  • Performs additional duties, as deemed necessary by the supervisor

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CARF and ASAM Standards.
  • Demonstrates Proficiency in Communication & Written skills.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Statutes Regarding Patient Confidentiality laws.
  • Knowledge of Drug-Free Workplace Policies.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Violence.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Integrity & Compliance Program.
  • Functions well as a team member and contribute positively to the morale of staff
  • Demonstrates objectivity and maturity under stress

Qualifications:

  • Active RN or LPN nursing license in WA
  • Active CPR Certification
  • Active Driver's License
  • Recent TB Test - may be provided by the facility
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting, preferably in an inpatient, partial hospitalization and/or outpatient setting required.


Physical Demands:

Must have a reasonable ability to do the following:
  • Stand, walk and sit during assigned shifts hours.
  • Have the ability to manually handle patient belongings with gloved hands.
  • Be able to manually assess a patient as part of a physical exam.
  • Reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Speak and have access to the special senses within normal limits (hear, taste, smell, etc.)

  • Must be capable of lifting 20 pounds.
