Duties: Independently develop and implement software for ecommerce applications and related technology. Deliver code that meets specifications, create little to no operational support overhead. Create self-documenting designs and/or clearly communicates intent via comments in code, on specifications, in as-built documentation and during code reviews. Write unit and integration tests for each deliverable, effectively and comprehensively exercising the code. Prevent the introduction of subsequent bugs, and correct existing bugs or design issues when discovered. Influence the discovery and decision-making process when changes to standards and technology are required (tools, conventions and design patterns). Serve as a team member in the design and new technology proof of concept for applications for new technology. Lead code reviews to ensure functional performance specifications are met and engineering standards are followed, mentor other Engineers. Analyze and identify technical areas for improvement within existing applications. Create designs for feature areas that take into consideration the entire product life cycle, so that the feature areas are efficiently maintained. Lead analysis, design and development of software in a cross-functional technical team. Influence development and maturation of the product and technology vision and strategy. Lead design reviews, effectively articulate the key design principles for the feature areas to the immediate team and upper management. Lead and mentor other developers in coding complex technical solutions

Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements
Education & Experience Requirements:
Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience developing web-based applications using Java/J2EE for order management systems within the retail domain.
Or, alternatively:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or a related field, plus five (5) years of experience developing web-based applications using Java/J2EE for order management systems within the retail domain.
Required Skills:
(1) Demonstrated Expertise (DE) in design and development of large scale Java/J2EE web applications in service-oriented architecture using object-oriented programming in Java 8, JUnit, Spring, and tools, including Maven for build, Git for version control, and Jenkins for continuous integration within Unix and Windows environments;
(2) DE in building REST and SOAP Web Services, including microservices integrating with Kafka cluster and deployed on JBoss/Tomcat containers;
(3) DE developing and deploying applications on the Amazon Cloud platform using Amazon Web Services (AWS), EC2, RDS, IAM, S3, VPC, Auto Scaling, and AWS Developer tools, including Code Deploy, Code Build, Code Pipeline and integrating with document DB;
(4) DE in database design and development within Oracle, MySQL and MongoDB technologies;
(5) DE in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) according to Agile methodologies, including Sprint/Scrum; and,
(6) DE in writing optimized database queries for MySQL and MongoDB and writing UNIX shell scripts for alerts and reporting.
