Responsibilities Include:

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients during the peri-operative period
• Observes patient upon admission to OR
• Helps plan nursing intervention based on Plan of Care derived from knowledge of the patients' health status and knowledge of the procedure to be performed
• Scrubs, sets up table according to OR standards
• Maintains sterile technique
• Provides for patient safety and comfort
• Assists surgeon, anticipates surgeon's needs, and establishes appropriate priorities
• Handles instruments, supplies and equipment properly
• Performs activities that foster a culture of safety within the department and organization
• Identifies safety/risk reduction strategies and communicates these to department director
• Assumes additional responsibilities as directed

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Certification as an Operating Room Surgical Technician required
• Prior experience working in an Operating Room setting within an acute care hospital preferred
