TAX ACCOUNTANT
Overview: GrowGeneration is one of the largest retailers of hydroponic products in the United States and is engaged in the business of marketing and distributing horticultural, organics, lighting, and hydroponics products, including lighting fixtures, nutrients, seeds and growing media, systems, trays, fans, filters, humidifiers and dehumidifiers, timers, instruments, water pumps, irrigation supplies and hand tools.
Position Reports To: Accounting Manager
Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000/DOE
Purpose of Position: To support the company’s financial record-keeping and reporting requirements and ensure compliance with US GAAP, corporate policies and procedures and common ethical practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares monthly and quarterly sales and use tax filings across many jurisdictions
- Reviews and ties out annual state and federal income tax filings, as well as quarterly income tax provisions
- Responsible for business license filings and ensuring that all locations maintain local and state level compliance
- Prepares annual personal property tax filings for all applicable locations
- Prepares additional tax related filings for franchise tax, B&O tax, etc.
- Researches and ensures tax compliance across localities in which the business performs operations
- Supports financial statement close, account reconciliations, etc. as necessary
- Reviews and monitors sales tax exemptions certificates and ensures compliance
- Supports special projects including integration of tax software, nexus study, and other requests
- Leads sales tax audits and assists with outside audit requests as necessary
- Investigates fluctuations and reports on accuracy of balances and transactions
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
- Knowledge of US GAAP required
- Four years of prior tax experience required; sales tax and income tax experience preferred
- Intercompany experience and ability to navigate multiple systems
- CPA or CPA-candidate preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to update job knowledge and develop relevant skills
