Job description
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Administrative Assistant performs routine filing, typing and related clerical work. Operates office equipment, inputs data; does related work as required. Part time position, not to exceed 29 hours worked/week.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs clerical and manual tasks to maintain and service files. Helps maintain confidential tenant records and files for the department.
- Maintains the department’s schedule by assisting in the planning and scheduling meetings, conferences, teleconferences and training.
- Assists in various clerical duties such as mailing, photocopying, faxing, filing and collating.
- Assists in the preparation of files for hearings, court cases, etc. on an as needed basis.
- May assist more than one executive, as needed.
- Relieves the receptionist, as needed.
- Performs other Authority activities, as requested.
- Business conditions or Authority needs may require from time to time, at employer’s discretion, changes in job duties, responsibilities or location.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with graduation from High School. Associates degree or higher desirable and/or certificate from training facilities.
- Two years experience in clerical work or one year of clerical experience and a wide knowledge of modern office methods, practices and equipment.
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge of local government process and procedures.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
- Professional appearance and manner.
- Ability to work within a sometimes stressful and demanding environment.
- Effective speaking and listening skills.
- Time management skills.
- Typing skills (accurate at 40+ words per minute).
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with departmental officials, employees and the general public.
- Ability to learn locations and general functions of the Assisted Housing Department.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions.
- Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.

If the accommodation cannot be made, because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such person may not be eligible.
LICENSE:
If the position calls for driving a personal vehicle on company business, the employee must have and maintain a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and auto insurance.

STARTING SALARY: Annualized salary of $19.00/HR
