Position Overview:
KGS has an immediate need for an Information Engineer with the ability to improve in the monitoring, management, and reporting of service delivery. Additionally, the Information Engineer should have a strong background in knowledge management and service delivery to be able to navigate the agency to find answers and provide recommendations. This role receives assignments and reports directly to the Team Lead supporting USDA Governance Services Division (GSD) Security Compliance Services Branch (SCSB). The position is integral to our success at USDA and providing our client with the most organized and professional team members to meet their expectations.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide knowledge management, technical writing, communication, process assistance, or similar support for projects or initiatives including evaluating and implementing enhanced, robust processes for designated initiatives or projects utilizing existing tools, including Remedy Digital Workplace, Chat, Service Now, and SharePoint presence.
  • Evaluate existing artifacts and processes, recommending, developing, and implementing sustainable processes incorporating existing toolsets.
  • Assist the existing Knowledge Management team in enhancing Knowledge Management processes for all Tiers of the organization providing best practices and recommendations for Knowledge Management for CEC and USDA customers and incorporating Knowledge Management into designated projects and initiatives.
  • Work with CEC to evaluate, review, recommend, and implement standardized reporting, processes, suggested roles and responsibilities, and best practices for CEC functions to facilitate robust, sustainable processes for the organization.
  • Produce knowledge articles and communication artifacts, evaluating materials and authoring, editing, reviewing, and publishing materials to enhance presence for designated projects and initiatives.
  • Evaluate, provide recommendations, and implement methods to obtain and incorporate customer feedback for knowledge articles to provide customers with the self-help information they request and need.
  • Assist CEC in evaluating and standardizing processes, communications, and knowledge articles incorporating best practices for the best solution for designated projects or initiatives.
  • Coordinate with multiple CEC teams and diverse stakeholders to evaluate and incorporate Knowledge Management articles and communication materials, enhance processes, fully utilize toolsets, gain customer buy-in, and complete objectives.
  • Support the preparation of status reports, meeting minutes, hosting of meetings, and creating meeting agendas and technical program presentations for upper-level management and sponsors.
ITIL Functional Improvement
  • Provide a holistic review, analysis, and recommendation for improvement of processes for designated projects or initiatives; as well as incorporation of best practices, ITIL alignment, and roadmap for process improvement implementation to support designated IT Strategic goals or process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate analysis with multiple stakeholders, including, but not limited to, Remedy Administrators, SMEs, project or program managers, support staff, CEC leadership, and additional stakeholders.
  • Ensure support is provided and the results produced for designated projects or initiatives encompass a holistic Enterprise approach aligned with best practices and focused on delivering the most valuable and efficient processes, demonstrated improvements, and enhancements in a practical, timely, and user-friendly manner to facilitate business processes, support of customers, and self-help initiatives.
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field. Will consider professional experience in lieu of education.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Service Delivery, knowledge management or technical writing is required.
  • Must be able to quickly analyze a large collection of data, then create reports and determine results.
  • Ability to quickly analyze data and collaborate with key stakeholders to make decisions.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and team members at all levels.
  • Must be able to organize and manage individual time to complete all projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team as well as independently, in a fast-paced, multi-tasking, global environment.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a USDA Background Investigation for the position. Secret Clearance or higher is preferred.

Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
